“Sustainable content is content you can create—and maintain...”
“Hoping that a content management system will replace this kind of human care and attention is about as effective as pointing a barn full of unmanned agricultural machinery at a field, going on vacation, and hoping it all works out. Tractors are more efficient than horse-drawn plows, but they still need humans to decide where and when and how to use them.”
Erin Kissane. “The Elements of Content Strategy.”
Singles are best for pages with unique field layout needs that won't be repeated anywhere else on the website.
Globals are best for unique content that is not page-specific.
Channels are a good choice for content that repeats.
Structures are good for content that repeats, which also needs to be ordered.
Structures are also good for repeat content that will be arranged in a hierarchy.
Entry Types can be added to Channels and Structures to manage content that requires variation from entry to entry using multiple field layouts.
Matrix Blocks can be used to help manage any type of content that requires variation within each entry using multiple field layouts.
